2022: Holiday Hiatus
Updated: Jun 16, 2022

The workday after Christmas is always so confusing to me. It's that in-between period where you're still in vacation mode (e.g., eating a bunch of cookies and binging your favorite shows) versus writing your resolutions (like promising to hit the gym, quit smoking, or reorganizing the kitchen cabinets.)
After revamping my website numerous times, the "Blog" page always just sat sad and empty. Since I became a teacher in the later part of 2021, I happen to have this week off when I would normally be in a glass-encased office scrolling through hundreds of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. And I have to admit, sometimes I miss those days. I miss the coffee pot, and I miss the coworkers. (However, since the pandemic, most work--even corporate jobs like most of the ones I worked at my entire life--have become remote. So there isn't as much to miss.)
Besides my regular schedule (I teach three night classes as an ESL instructor, which I absolutely love), there aren't any corporate deadlines or last minute projects like I've had at previous jobs. The stress is minimal, but the rewards are significant. The pay is definitely less, but it's a tradeoff I'm extremely happy with in getting to spend more time with family and friends, pursue hobbies, and pursue interests I'm passionate about. And that's where I finally come to the heart of this blog: freelancing.
I spent the later part of my 20s in New York City, and I did quite a bit of freelancing there. It was a wonderful experience. Now that I'm older and more mature, I'd like to get back to it. And I'll share my experiences here, including things I'm reading and whatever influences me.
Anyway, I'm really excited to share with you. I always hate this limbo period between the remaining holidays and the New Year. Let's just get it over with and ring in 2022! See you soon.
